- Tinnitus: Treatment and Relief - by Jack A. Vernon. (if you
get one book, get this one)
- The book is inexpensive
enough for patients... but comprehensive enough for practitioners
to use. It summarizes what is known about nearly every aspect
of extraneous noise in the ear. Includes information on evaluating
treatment, therapeutic blind alleys, medical aspects, pulsate
tinnitus, drugs, transmitter antagonists, lasers, ginkgo extract,
vitamin B12, electrical simulation. and psychological treatment.
Some of the chapters are collections of frequently asked questions.
- The book provides
unbiased overviews of the various available treatments. It's a
comprehensive guide to a variety of topics: medication, depression,
masking, habituation, ginkgo, etc. Dr. Vernon treats the reader
like a fellow researcher and presents data so that the reader
is able to form his/her own conclusions. This unbiasedness is
invaluable in helping sort through the competing claims of different
clinics, each with their own specialty.

- The Tinnitus Handbook - by Bill Habets and L. E. Mills (Illustrator).
- A readable overview
of Tinnitus and some of the possible explanations and remedies.
Includes an objective presentation of alternative medical treatments.
Includes information on natural remedies.
- "I have read
virtually every book ever written on the topic of tinnitus--only
this book contains natural and alternative treatments that helped
get rid of the agonizing ringing and other sounds in my ears.
For example, one suggested remedy in the book is the herb gingko
biloba. I started taking this herb daily and within a few weeks
a miracle happened. For the first time in years the ringing in
my ears stopped. I understand gingko stimulates the circulation
in the ears and alleviates the tinnitus symptoms. I would recommend
this book to anyone suffering from tinnitus symptoms." Frank
Rizzo, Chicago, IL, USA
- "My doctor prescribed
antidepressant medication that only made the ringing worse--much
worse. I found the natural remedies in the The Tinnitus Handbook
really helped." Cneu@PRimenet.com

- Tinnitus: Turning the Volume Down - by Kevin L. Hogan (the author's
email is KHogan1652@aol.com)
- It covers the basics
of tinnitus, including scientific explanations and current modalities
of treatment. It includes information on the use of hypnotherapy
treatment. It includes 40 pages of professional journal article
citations.
- "While attending
hypnotherapist training with Kevin Hogan in 1998 I was introduced
to a potentially debilitating condition called tinnitus. Shortly
following this training, I was assigned to write a college paper,
the topic, tinnitus. This book was by far one the most informational
and scientifically sound book which I was able to obtain on the
subject of tinnitus." Stage Hypnotist Monica MesmrEwe@aol.com
- "I was told
that the incessant noise in my head was there forever. I would
have to learn to live with it. I was on the brink of suicide when
I finally decided to do everything possible to win the war with
the unwelcome noise. 2 1/2 years later I did win the war. Today,
I have had the opportunity to help hundreds of clients with tinnitus
as their therapist and thousands more as a support person. A portion
of the proceeds of this book will be donated to help research
tinnitus treatments and still more to help children suffering
from hearing loss and tinnitus. If you have tinnitus, this book
brings you more than hope. It gives you a complete action plan.
I wish you, the reader peace." The author, Kevin Hogan KHogan1652@aol.com
